The Girl Who Cried
spoken word poetry
Written by Katerina N Clark
It ain't easy.
Living day by day, my way.
You see,
I'm a little different.
I see life a little differently.
Some may say I may even sound crazy
but this is for the people who suffer depression or anxiety,
low self esteem or even an eating disorder.
This is for the people who have suffered loss of a mother or a daughter.
This is for the teens who have had their heart broken in half
or the kids at school who have forgotten how to laugh.
This is for you.
The ones who have been diagnosed with a mental illness
and the ones who are helping others to become more aware of this.
Or what about the girl who cried?
Who cried herself to sleep every single night?
It's mask.
Her life is like a mask.
Cut to the wrist
hides it at her hips and fakes a smile on her lips,
because it's just easier to fake it and make people believe
that you want to stay but really all you want to do is just leave.
You see.
People are judged these days on the way they look
but really once they open up
they're like a brand new book.
A story.
A huge story that you're just dying to read,
they have experienced things that you will never ever hear or see.
Some people wake up and they have to fight against their own mind
say that
today I will be ok
there's no need to hide.
It's all about moving forward and not giving up on your goals
it's about living life on the edge and not doing what we're told.
Because we're all different
we all think differently
made to be the best that we could possibly be.
So if you're suffering from anything that you've read above
I want you to know that you can never ever give up.
As shit it may seem at times
as dark as your days may be
I beg you right now
please listen to me.
I get it.
I have it.
I suffer from something that I can not control
but with my strength I can become unbreakable,
I use it to my advantage and try to help others around me
to see life fully and far more clearly.
So if I got through it I know that you can too
just got to believe and see your future from a different point of view.
I turned my negative situation into a positive situation
it's up to you what you do in your own situation.
Look for the reason as to why you may fee like this
there's a reason behind it
just use your lips
and speak.
Ask for guidance.
Don't sit back and cry in silence
don't be the girl who fell asleep every night crying
but be the one who stands up for those who are dying.
Make a difference in someone's life
after all it's what we do now that will count in the afterlife.
