Never Give Up
poem
Written by Katerina N Clark
It wasn't until I had seen her cry
I knew there was something she was hiding inside
A story
she was so afraid to share
she dodged eye contact with anyone who came near
It wasn't a nice story
it wasn't pleasant
fact
it was traumatic
that's why she was so distant
but I gave her time
I gave her time to speak
open up her heart it was help she would seek
I offered my hand only to support her
thinking how a dad could do that to his very own daughter
It broke my heart when she started to cry
that moment she admitted she wanted to die
She said she felt dirty and full of sin
only because it was he who had come in
Into her body and ruined her soul
he ruined her mind and ruined her goals
She saw no future
She saw no light
because her father raped her that dark winters night
She was only fourteen years old when he held her down
covered her mouth and began to growl
She closed her eyes and prayed for the pain to stop
but it didn't so she began to blame God
He wasn't there for me and he never will be
That's what she believed in until she met me
When I told her that I understood her pain
and how I use to blame God every single day
But I realised I couldn't do that anymore
as I became too weak
I couldn't live my life without God loving me
I needed him
and she needed him
turn to him for he will forgive your sin
The hatred you feel inside
let it all out
be proud to be alive
She said if only it wasn't too late
Well I'm telling you now it's never too late!
Life is good even if bad things exists
We have to stay strong and understand this
Everything happens for a reason
Everyone grows and changes like the season
And you loved
You are loved by the man above
and also by the people who tell you to never ever
give up.
